Going Green: Cannabis-infused line of ice cream makes its way to Massachhusetts

The Framingham-based company Plant Jam is partnering with performer and cannabis entrepreneur Jim Belushi to launch a “Blues Brothers” themed line of cannabis-infused ice cream.

David Yusefzadeh is an international chef and the founder of Plant Jam where he sells Cloud Creamery, all natural ice cream and sorbet containing THC. The line’s Tanzanian Vanilla flavor contains sustainably sourced vanilla straight from Bukoba, Tanzania. The Dark Chocolate Truffle flavor includes chunks of dark chocolate that adds richness, and the Mango Yuzu Sorbet is a bright Japanese citrus flavor with sweet mango.

Belushi's Farm is owned by Jim Belushi, who can be seen on the series “Growing Belushi,” which documents his daily life as a legal cannabis farmer. The ice cream collaboration will be part of the second season, which will air on the Discovery Channel early next year. The “Blues Brothers” line will roll out with two flavors: orange whip and java chip.  The orange whip features a classic creamsicle flavor and is made with freshly-squeezed oranges, zest and Tanzanian vanilla beans. The line’s Java chip flavor contains rich coffee flavors and house-made chocolate chips. These products were shipped this week and can be found in cannabis retailers state-wide.

“I’ve met many cannabis chefs, but David’s approach is the truest because he uses the full plant and farm to table ingredients,” Belushi said. He then states, “I get a chill when I eat it. And then, I become chill. It’s on the same mission as the farm–boutique farm to table, organic, special.”
