Trooper Discovers Maryland Driver with Marijuana Inside Vehicle

by Paul Byrd

Julio S.S. Solis, aged 30, had his driving trip unexpectedly interrupted after a Pennsylvania trooper ordered him to pull over his vehicle.

On September 30th, Cpl. Kevin Masinick was assigned to conduct motor carrier safety inspections on commercial vehicles by monitoring their speeds with a radar.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., Masinick clocked Solis’s tractor-trailer going 65 mph in a 55 mph zone, resulting in the Schuylkill Haven station trooper to pull over Solis. Upon their encounter, Masinick made a crucial discovery!

Masinick sensed an odor coming from Solis’s cab as he approached the vehicle. After Solis struggled to find the vehicle’s registration, Masinick stepped away from Solis’s vehicle for a brief moment to begin the paperwork for a vehicle inspection.

Upon his return, Masinick discovered that Solis had sprayed air freshener to disguise the odor. After ordering Solis out of his vehicle, Masinick tested Solis to see if he was under the influence of marijuana and then inspected the vehicle.

While Solis did not appear to be under the influence, Masinick discovered a fanny pack with a small amount of loose marijuana, two marijuana cigarettes and paraphernalia. Solis was then taken into custody with his items being confiscated. Along with his speeding citation, Solis may be facing charges of unlawful possession of marijuana!
